As part of of BCIT's New Media Design & Web Development program, I had to complete a 300 hour internship. Evolve is a branding and design agency based in Vancouver, Canada. They specialize in helping businesses develop or redevelop their brand to create a presence in the market. The agency provides services such as logo design, website development, marketing strategy and more.
Although the agency is primarily focused on branding and designing, I worked hand in hand with Creative Director of Evolve to create various forms of content such as behind the scenes archival footage of Evolve X, an app the agency is developing, educational / flashy content for the Creative Director @tropixjay on Instagram and worked hand in hand with the Creative Director of Evolve to create video projects for a luxury hotel chain. I've also had to learn how to use a new editing software, Davinci Resolve to edit videos.
One of the highlights of my internship was getting a tour of Paradox Hotel in Vancouver. As I worked hand in hand with the Creative Director of Paradox Hotel, I got a short tour of the hotel's various rooms, along with Mansion Nightclub that was also located within the hotel. My main responsibility was to record the short tour, and some behind the scenes content of a meeting for the company's upcoming app, Evolve X. I had fun going around each room and recording from different angles as it tested my cinematography skills.
Overall, my internship as a Video and Digital Media Producer at Evolve had been an enriching experience. It has helped shape my skills and understanding of the media production industry. During my internship I was able to apply my knowledge and skills with video production tools and editing software to ensure that each project turned out great. The opportunity to work on a variety of projects not only sharpened my technical skills but also deepened my creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
